It's a psychological thriller that feels much more like an episode of your favorite detective drama with a hefty dose of LSD sprinkled in. Set 13 years after the original game, it follows FBI Agent Saga Anderson on a trip to Bright Falls, Washington in an attempt to shed some light on the murders and disappearances that have happened in the sleepy little town. On the other side (literally), Alan Wake fights to find his way out of the terrifying Dark Place (an alternate reality, not Garth Marenghi's) at the bottom of Cauldron Lake. The narrative finds you swapping between both characters as it unfolds, and you both must take on horrifying, dark versions of people and characters you know, all in a bid to solve the mystery at the heart of the game.
